Air Conditioning
A660 Air Conditioning Laboratory Unit
A fully modular and upgradeable system enabling the study of air conditioning from the basic principles of psychrometry, through recirculation and the use of psychrometric and pressure-enthalpy charts using manual instrumentation, to PID control and computer linking. In addition an environmental chamber is available for research and student project work.

The following upgrade modules can be factory fitted or purchased individually and installed at a later date by the end user to enhance a teaching programme:
Digital temperature upgrade
Recirculating duct upgrade
PID control upgrade
Computer linked upgrade
Environmental chamber

B500 Ventilation Trainer
For studying the parameters influencing air flow in ducts and the methods of designing and commissioning such systems. The unit enables students to undertake the balancing of a realistic air distribution system and to investigate:

·         Typical fabrication and construction methods used in air distribution ducting.

·         Pressure losses and loss coefficients in different ducts and components including velocity effects.

·         Fan pressure and volume flow characteristics.

·         Standard types of panel and bag filters including pressure drop against velocity.

·         Methods of measuring airflow rates in ducts and from outlet diffusers.

The flexible design means that the unit can be configured to fit almost any laboratory and the experimental capabilities can be further enhanced by additional ducting kits and ductwork leakage testers available as optional items.

H892 Bench Top Cooling Tower
Reproduces all the processes that are found in an industrial system serviced by a forced draught cooling tower.

The unit incorporates a process load, circulating pump, packed column, water distribution, volume control system and fan. Standard instrumentation allows measurement of the air, circulating water mass flow rate and all end state temperatures using wet and dry bulb thermocouples. Evaporation rates under varying load and flow conditions can also be investigated.

The computer-linked version includes transducers and software to measure the same parameters and to plot psychrometric and other graphical data in real time.

The unit is supplied complete with one column of packing density 110m2/m3. Columns with different packing densities together with a column enabling the construction of driving force diagrams and an empty column for student project work are available as optional items.

B701 Fire Alarm Trainer
A bench mounted unit consisting of a two-zone fire alarm system with a variety of detectors, visual and audio alarms. A visible smoke detector, ionisation smoke detector and manual call point form one zone. A fixed temperature and rate of rise temperature detector form the second detector zone. The detectors are housed in fire retardant cases and each may be activated separately in a controlled fashion with the accessories supplied.

The control unit incorporates 6 switched faults and will accept up to 6 external alarm and 15 detector circuits wired by students. Suitable circuits are available as Model B720 Fire Alarm Wiring Kits.

B720 Fire Alarm Wiring Module
The range of components supplied allow students to assemble, commission and operate a complete alarm system with up to 8 alarm and 15 detector boards connected to each control panel board. Alternatively, the alarm and detector boards may be plugged directly into Model B701 Fire Alarm Trainer for testing and demonstration. The set comprises:

·         Board mounting two-zone fire alarm control panel.

·         Board mounting two-alarm panel.

·         Board mounting three-detector panel.

·         Zero halon fire resistant cable (100m).

·         Zero halon wire accessory Module.

·         Mineral insulated copper cable (100m).

·         Mineral insulated copper cable accessory Module.

Mineral insulated copper cable tool Module.
